Summer School on Biomedical Data Science
Biomedical Data Science is a multi-disciplinary field that regards the analysis of large-scale biomedical datasets to understand how living systems function and solve health-related problems, such as improving our ability to diagnose and treat diseases. Biomedical data science includes many scientific and research areas, such as Computational Science, the interface between computer science, mathematics, and biomedical engineering, Machine Learning and Biomedical Data. Biomedical data science develops important new technologies applied to different application areas, such as molecular interaction networks, cancer therapy resistance, brain and heart function and related diseases.
In this Summer School invited experts will hold seminars on different topics of biomedical data science and interact with the participants in and out the lecture room. The aim of the School is to give some basic knowledge as well as stimulating practical examples to participants about different aspects of biomedical data science. The aim is also to exchange experience and ideas, as well as career perspectives, and interact in a relaxing environment of a summer camping. Social events are expected to take place, organized or not.
Location – accommodation
The BME Summer School 2023 will be held at the Kouyoni Camping-Bungalows premises. On the link below you can find more information about the location.

The camping has some limited places for tends, for camp lovers, and rooms in a complex within the camping premises for two, three and four persons, for non-camp lovers. The camping has also restaurant and cafe-bar. The accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch and light dinner) will be run by the BME organizers. Further information will be given at site.
Schedule
The participants are expected to arrive at the Kouyoni camping at the afternoon / evening of Tuesday 27 June 2023. Upon arrival, registration and allocation to rooms, and tends for those who wish to have, will take place. In the evening, we will all gather for a welcome drink at the cafe-bar of the camping (or any other event that will be notified in due time).
The time schedule in the other three days is as follows:
- Breakfast until 9:00
- 9:00 – 13:30 Seminars with breaks for coffees / refreshments.
- 13:30 – 15:00 Lunch and rest
- 15:00 – 17:00 Seminars / presentations / discussions.
- 17:00 – evening: free-time for interaction and possible events (to be announced).
The School will conclude on Friday 30 June at 17:00.
